About Course

Welcome to the Caring for Seniors training course syllabus. This course is designed
to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills required to care for
seniors in a variety of settings.
In this course, you will learn about different age-related changes, their causes and
effects, as well as how to provide person-centred care catered to the individual
needs of seniors. You will also learn about commonly experienced health conditions
among seniors and develop an understanding of various management strategies for
them. You will be introduced to both psychological and physiological aspects of
gerontology that are essential in providing appropriate care for seniors; this includes
memory loss, communication difficulties, physical impairments and dementia.
Furthermore, you will explore tools that can help support long-term care planning for
seniors, such as residential options or other forms of assistance that may be needed.
The course lays emphasis on developing crucial life skills through real-life simulations
and interactive exercises in order to properly apply the theoretical material learnt
into practical scenarios. Through a combination of lectures, group discussions,
activities and tests your mastery of the content covered in this program will be
assessed throughout the duration of this course. By investing time and effort into
completing this program you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding on how best to
provide quality care giving services while being mindful of ethical considerations
when working with elderly adults.
