Echoes Beneath the Baobab
About Course
In the heart of Ghana, right beneath the wide and beautiful branches of an
enormous baobab tree, there was a lively village bursting with culture and
traditions. Each evening, when the sun started to set and painted the sky with
bright oranges and purples, something magical happened. The villagers would
gather to tell stories, sharing their experiences through poetry.
Among them was a little girl named Ama. She was full of dreams that soared
high in the sky, just like the limbs of the great baobab tree. While many
villagers talked about farming and trading goods, Ama found comfort in crafting
beautiful words that captured both laughter and sadness. Her wise grandmother,
Abena, always told her that “poetry is life’s echo.” Abena encouraged Ama to
chase her love for writing poems even though some people thought it wasn’t a
practical thing to do.
One special day filled with celebrations for Ananse Day—the day set aside to
honour storytelling—Ama made a brave decision. She wanted to recite her
poem called “Echoes Beneath the Baobab.” As she stood in front of all her
friends and family under the soft light of flickering lanterns, she felt a wave of
confidence wash over her. Her words began to flow out like a sweet song..
