About Course

Lake Bosomtwe, located in the heart of Ghana’s Ashanti Region, stands
as a stunning natural marvel that has inspired both locals and tourists
for centuries. This ancient impact crater lake, formed approximately 1.07
million years ago, showcases the area’s rich geological and cultural
heritage. With its tranquil waters, verdant surroundings, and profound
spiritual significance, Lake Bosomtwe offers an exceptional combination
of natural allure, cultural depth, and historical relevance.
The creation of the lake is linked to a meteor strike that resulted in a
crater later filled with water. Throughout the years, Lake Bosomtwe has
evolved into a crucial element of the local ecosystem, supporting an
array of plant and animal life. The neighboring communities—comprising
around 30 villages with a total population nearing 70,000—have forged
a profound bond with this body of water. The lake holds significant
importance in their spiritual beliefs as well as playing an integral role in
their economic activities and cultural practices.
